DESCRIPTION |
A
fine example of the first french Renaissance, the
Chateau of Cieurac was built between 1480 and 1503
by the Family de Cardaillac. Raymond de Cardaillac
and his Son Jacques, both Grand Chamberlain of the King, Governor and
"sénéchal" of Quercy, built the actual chateau.

With its staircase carved on the riverside of the "flights of the steps" (unique in France), and with its structured door, made of walnut-tree wood and the remarkable "bar windows", the chateau can be considered as one of a jewel of the Renaissance style in the Midi-Pyrénées Region.

Also
classified, the windmill, built in 1670,
has not been used since 1936. However, today the operating mechanism is
still in perfect working condition. |
